Jiuzhaigou
offers dramatic scenery and landscapes with lofty mountains, heavy
woods, lush forests and numerous lakes scattered about the area.
The Juzhaigou nature reserve is
basically shaped around a Y-shaped gully. The main gully is known as
"Suzheng walk", extending from south to north from the
entrance to Juzhaihuo
National Park, encompassing the impressive Suzheng
Falls and stockade and ending at Nuorilang,
where there are a few hotels and stores but little of interest
besides.
At Nuorilang, the path splits. The eastern
route follows a path past some of China's most breath-taking
scenery including tumbling and noisy waterfalls, lakes and the lush Primeval
Forest. The western
route takes in Zechawa stockade ( a Tibetan style village)
and a couple of huge clearwater lakes.
Both these routes can be walked in a long
day, although it is far more enjoyable to spend at least a few days
here, stopping off en route in some of the small villages and heading
off the track to explore deeper where possible.
